A small number of Hells Angels bikers decided to visit Harrah’s Casino for a drink when they were fully aware that rival biker group, the Mongols, were staying there. Despite attempts by acting.
Laughlin is located just under 100 miles south of Las Vegas, Nevada and is the host to the Laughlin River Run.
The Laughlin River Run is an annual motorcycle rally which was first established in 1983. From a humble start of 426 participants at the 1983 event, it quickly gathered speed and in 2005 had an estimated 70,000 attendees.
The rally is generally held on the last weekend in April. The River Run Riot event in 2002 was the first time that mass violence had erupted during the rally.

Ride hard, and die free after a shooting on 15 Freeway on the Cajalco Road off-ramp near El Cerrito Road in Corona, California. An alleged group of Hells Angels and Mongols were involved in a high speed chase as they fired shots at each other. One biker died, while two others suffered gunshot wounds and were hospitalized. No arrests have been made so far.
And we thought this kind of stuff only happened in the movies.
Sons of Anarchy began its final season earlier this month, and as the fictional bikers were involved in numerous gunfights creating a body count Rambo would be proud of, many viewers were starting to think the show had completely lost touch with reality.
Of course, that was before last Saturday.
The shooting occurred on Saturday night, around 6:30pm, and according to a witness who talked to ABC7 Eyewitness News LA, two of the victims were part of the Mongols gang and residents of Corona.
The Highway Patrol told the Los Angeles Times that, “Several 911 callers said rival motorcycle gangs, the Mongols and the Hells Angels, were shooting at each other.”
Both motorcycle clubs were in the area to hold biker rallies. Hells Angels members had a rally at their Lake Elsinore meeting spot on Saturday afternoon and the Mongols were to have a similar rally in Riverside at night.
It is unclear how the two groups got involved in a shootout, but both clubs have a well-known history of violence and long running feud.
ATF agent William Queen spent 28 months undercover with the Mongols and was even patched in as a member. In his book Under and Alone: The True Story of an Undercover Agent Who Infiltrated America’s Most Violent Outlaw Motorcycle Gang, he writes, “[The Mongols’] most significant violent acts in the 1970s and ‘80s were committed against the [Hells] Angels, with whom they fought (and ultimately won) a seventeen-year war.”
Then again, this war never ended.
The two biker clubs were at it again in 2002, when they were involved in a shootout at the Harrah's Laughlin Casino in Laughlin, Nevada, that left three members dead. Mongol Anthony 'Bronson' Barrera, 43, was stabbed to death, and Hells Angels Jeramie Bell, 27, and Robert Tumelty, 50, were shot to death.
Every time members of these two clubs meet there is bound to be bloodshed. No matter the time, place, or amount of witnesses.
